24 Km River Rafting: Marine Drive to Nim Beach

Extreme 3 to 5 hours 📍 Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

About

For those who've done the smaller stretches and want the full Ganga experience, Marine Drive to Nim Beach is the big one. This full-day adventure throws some of the toughest commercial rapids in the region at you, think Three Blind Mice, Cross Fire, Roller Coaster, and Golf Course, all Grade III and III+ challenges that demand real teamwork and paddling muscle.

What makes it special:

  • The longest and most complete rafting run near Rishikesh, blending serious rapids with long, peaceful floating stretches
  • A front row seat to the Garhwal Himalayas, dense forests, white sand beaches, and quiet village views along the way
  • Plenty of body surfing and cliff jumping opportunities scattered through the calmer sections, plus a real sense of accomplishment by the time you reach Nim Beach

It's the one seasoned rafters chase, and the one first-timers brag about for years if they're brave enough to try it.

Getting There

Marine Drive is the farthest put-in point, located roughly 24 to 26 km upstream of Rishikesh, about a 45 to 60 minute drive. Operators pick you up from Tapovan or Laxman Jhula and take you upriver for the start. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun, around 20 to 22 km from Rishikesh, a 45 to 60 minute drive from there. Haridwar is the closest major railhead at about 25 km, and Rishikesh has its own station on the line as well. From Delhi, it's roughly 250 km by road. This route runs the same September to mid June season, avoiding the July to August monsoon entirely. Since this is a full day trip, pack light comfortable clothes, a warm layer for the evening, sunscreen, and water, and keep your valuables locked away before you set off.
