Getting There

The Kedarnath Trek begins from Gaurikund, the last motorable point before the temple. The nearest major town is Sonprayag, about 5 km from Gaurikund, with regular shared taxis available between the two. The closest railway station is Rishikesh (around 215 km away), while the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, approximately 225 km from Gaurikund. From Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, or other major towns in Uttarakhand, government and private buses, as well as taxis, operate to Sonprayag. After reaching Gaurikund, trekkers begin the 16 km uphill journey to Kedarnath. Pony, palanquin (doli), and helicopter services are also available during the pilgrimage season for those who prefer alternatives to trekking.
