Manali Paragliding
About
Manali paragliding is the easy, scenic way to get airborne in Himachal Pradesh — short tandem flights over the Kullu Valley with snow peaks, pine forest and terraced fields below. Most flights launch from the Solang Valley near Manali, one of the gentlest, most flight-stable take-offs in India.
What makes it special:
- A beginner-friendly tandem flight with low commitment — the perfect first taste of paragliding
- Launches in the Solang Valley, with views across the Kullu Valley and surrounding Himalayan peaks
- Easy to slot into a Manali holiday alongside the valley's other adventure activities
It's a shorter, lower-key flight than Bir Billing — ideal if you want the thrill of airtime without the full destination-flight commitment.
Getting There
Most flights run from the Solang Valley, about 14 km (30–40 minutes) from Manali. The nearest airport is Bhuntar (Kullu-Manali), roughly 50 km away, though flights are limited and weather-dependent; most visitors reach Manali by overnight Volvo from Delhi or via Chandigarh, the nearest major railhead (~310 km).
The best months are March–June and September–November; winter snow and monsoon thermals both cause frequent cancellations. Solang gets very crowded in peak season (May–June, December–January) with long waits, so off-peak weekdays give both shorter queues and better flying conditions.
